About

Ernest Asleton American Legion Post 118

The Wayzata American Legion Post 118 is named after Ernest Aselton, a Wayzata resident who joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was killed in action in France near the end of World War I.

Throughout its history, the Legion has been a community gathering place.  Known in the past for dances, picnics, and parties the Legion is active in our community today hosting class reunions as well as donations to many organizations: Boy Scouts of America, D.A.R.E., Toys for Tots, Gillette Children’s Foundation and many more.

The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. Focusing on service to veterans, servicemembers and communities, the Legion evolved from a group of war-weary veterans of World War I into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States.

Over the years, the Legion has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans and produced many important programs for children and youth.
