EmpowHER Women's Network Luncheon - May "Clearing Out Mental Clutter"

Tuesday, May 12, 2026 (11:30 AM - 1:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

The Wayzata West Metro Chamber is excited to bring back the popular EmpowHER Women's Network series in 2026. The EmpowHER Women’s Network believes in the immense value that women bring to the Chamber and community.

Its purpose is to foster a supportive and empowering community where women engage in peer-led mentorship by providing a safe space, which allows women to feel heard and receive advice and feedback. The EmpowHER Women’s Network is dedicated to making a difference by cultivating an environment where women thrive, excel, and contribute meaningfully to the growth and success of our community and beyond.

This month's program will take a look at "Mental Clutter" and what it means as we navigate our professional and personal worlds.

  • May is Mental Health Awareness month, so in the spirit of self-care and mental health, our focus for the May EmpowHER event will be Managing our Mental Clutter.  Join us for a reflective conversation on how our Mental Clutter affects our emotional and mental well-being, and what we can do about it.

  • “Mental Clutter” refers to all of the things taking up space in our brain on any given day.  Picture it as having too many browser tabs open on your computer.  Those tabs might have had a purpose, but when they are all open at once it’s overwhelming.  Just like a computer, when too much is open, everything slows down. When we have too much on our mind, we feel exhausted because too many thoughts or worries are fighting for our attention.  The good news is we can find ways to “close a few browser tabs” and manage the chaos.

  • If this resonates with you, you are not alone! Mental Clutter is real and affects us all.  Join us for this interactive session where we will discuss the affects of our Mental Clutter and how to manage it.

Discussion Questions for the Session:

  1. What is taking up a disproportionate amount of space in your head?
    • What’s “running in the background?”
    • Which clutter isn’t yours to own?
    • What are you carrying that no one else can see?
  2. How is this Mental Clutter affecting you?  What is it costing you?
  3. What clutter could you release?  Is there a browser tab you can close, and how will you do it?  Ideas for action:
    • Make a list of which all the things cluttering your mind (good and bad).  Get it all out of your head. Separate them into things you can control, and things you cannot.
    • Focus most of your mental energy on things you can control.
    • Consider: who can you ask for support?
    • Start with some clearing physical clutter (something simple like a drawer). It provides a sense of control and momentum
    • Make time to reflect upon what you are learning about the clutter in your mind and how it’s affecting you. What do you notice?

A special thank you to our awesome member Nancy Fisher of the Good Life Revolution for leading and facilitating this month's discussion.
