The May Leadership Luncheon will focus on the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.
The Minneapolis Fed., with its one Branch in Helena, Montana, serves the six states of the Ninth Federal Reserve District: Minnesota, Montana, North and South Dakota, 26 counties in northwestern Wisconsin, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. They examine banks to make them safe and sound and conduct world-class research to inform policymakers. Our 1,000 employees in Minneapolis and 60 in Helena monitor the regional economy to help determine the nation’s monetary policy. They strive to promote economic well-being. And much more.
Our keynote speaker is Alene Tchourumoff. She serves as the chief human resources officer of the Human Resources and Inclusion Division, senior vice president of the Learning Management Support Office, and senior vice president of the Community Development and Engagement Division, which includes the Center for Indian Country Development. In these roles she leads the Bank’s internal human resources as well as the Bank’s external engagement with communities throughout the Ninth District, with an emphasis on low- and moderate-income people and those living in Indian Country.
Prior to joining the Bank in December 2018, Alene served as chair of Minnesota’s Metropolitan Council, where she built strong partnerships with local governments and community groups to advance transit, housing, and other critical infrastructure. She has also held leadership roles in the executive branch of the State of Minnesota and Hennepin County.
Alene holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from George Washington University School of Business and a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
Alene was named a 2020 Women in Business honoree by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal and is chair of the Family Housing Fund Board and a trustee of the Minnesota Science Museum.
The Ninth Federal Reserve District has a diverse economy, from mining to tourism to agriculture and technology.
From east to west, the Ninth District stretches 1,800 miles, covering 409,291 square miles and including about 9 million people. Although 12 percent of the nation’s land is in the Ninth District, only 3 percent of the nation’s population resides here.
Come learn more about the impact of Federal Reserve on the Ninth District economy and how it offers a wide variety of resources that support our region and beyond.
We hope to see you there!
